Shoulder closures to continue through August for ADA upgrades.

Route 71 is scheduled to have daytime shoulder closures in both directions over the next several weeks as an ADA improvement project begins in Monmouth County. Traffic to be maintained utilizing traffic shifts.

Last week we wrapped out a busy spring legislative session that included negotiations for the fiscal year 2027 state budget.

This year’s budget sessions were often daunting as we tried to address a $3 billion structural deficit. Federal spending cuts scheduled to start in 2027 contributed to the state’s financial crunch brought on, in part, by increased costs for health care, school funding, employee benefits, and direct property tax relief.
