ASBURY PARK - In honor of Women’s History Month, Senator Vin Gopal will be hosting a “Women in Public Service” reception honoring municipal and state women leaders of New Jersey’s 11th District on Monday, March 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parlor Gallery, located at 717 Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park.

The event is also being held in celebration of the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote and in recognition of the innumerable contributions that Monmouth County’s women leaders have made to the strength and success of its communities.

“During Women’s History Month, it’s important not only to recognize the many contributions that women have made in the past but also to honor the accomplishments of the incredible women who are blazing a trail for future generations to follow,” said Senator Gopal. “As we speak, women across our state are making history through their courage, passion, and inspirational leadership.

“It’s a privilege to serve alongside and collaborate with this year’s honorees and speakers, whose hard work on behalf of the residents of New Jersey and Monmouth County is an inspiration to all who would enter a career of public service. I am grateful every day for the outspoken voices and perspectives of the women that this event will honor, and look forward to the great things that they will continue to achieve.”

Honorees will include Tinton Falls Deputy Council President Risa Clay, Freehold Borough Councilwoman Margaret Rogers, West Long Branch Mayor Janet Tucci, Long Branch Councilwoman Rose Widdis, and Ocean Township Board of Education Member Denise Parlamas.

New Jersey MVC Commissioner Sue Fulton and Monmouth County Deputy Freeholder Director Sue Kiley will also attend as guest speakers.
