Often, many of our constituents express similar concerns, especially related to their safety, affordability issues, education, and accessing important community resources. These conversations are crucial in driving our legislative agendas. We would love to take the opportunity to provide some insight into that process.

Ever since the COVID 19 pandemic hit us in the beginning of 2020, the Legislative District 11 office has worked hard - and successfully - to ensure telemedicine and telehealth are available to residents.

During March and February, we hosted celebrations of Black history, Irish American heritage, women’s history and Greek Independence. It’s gratifying to report that the high turnouts at these events show that LD11 residents share our interest in meeting and learning about their neighbors who come from different backgrounds.

New Jersey has over 600 school districts. More than 200 of them have less than 500 students. Many of them have buildings less than 30 percent full. Some of them have dramatically increased administrative costs, hiring more and more administrators, while their enrollment has gone down. Recently - the president of the Colts Neck School Board, who is focused on protecting the status quo and her own position of power - lashed out against us for suggesting we should start mandating the regionalization of services.

We want to make sure residents are aware that applications for the next property tax reimbursement program are now available and that the state Division of Taxation has begun issuing checks for the current Stay NJ payments.

It is gratifying to report that many of our bills have been signed into law or progressed through Senate committees during the past two years, including some signed during the lame duck session.

As legislators, we often hear from residents who find themselves facing large hospital bills after being treated for an illness or emergency.

We wanted to share a state grant opportunity for support of recreational facility improvements and repairs available to counties, municipalities, and school districts.

The New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' (DCA) Division of Local Government Services (DLGS) is accepting applications for the Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) Program. The state has allocated $10 million in the current state budget to this competitive grant program. The grants can be used for the improvement and repair of public recreation facilities including local parks, municipal recreation centers, and local stadiums.

LRIG funds will be awarded to successful grant applicants to help cover costs associated with updating community centers, playgrounds, pools, fields, walking or bicycle trails, rail trails, multi-sport courts, and recreational facilities; one-time personnel costs directly related to improvements; project development professional services costs; equipment costs including playground and recreation facilities equipment; and environmental remediation costs required to prepare recreation sites for use.

Applications must be submitted through the DCA SAGE Portal by 5 p.m. on February 13, 2026.
